Oliver Giroud has struggled to win the faith of his new manager, who has allowed Tammy Abraham the opportunity to cement his place as the focal point of Chelsea’s attack this season.

Giroud played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s Europa League success last term, scoring the opening goal in the final against his old club Arsenal, but has found opportunities to impress hard to come by this term and is concerned about losing his place in the France squad ahead of next summer’s European Championships.

Mikel Arteta faces a big selection problem ahead of their upcoming clash against Man Untd.

Crystal Palace are said to have registered an interest in the 33-year-old, but he could yet return to his homeland seven years after he left Montpellier to join the Gunners.

The player says “‘I’m going to have a chat with the coach. Chances are, there will be a change because I don’t have enough time to express myself on the pitch.

“For the moment, I am a Chelsea player. I still have some games to play here before the transfer window opens [on January 1].”

“Then we will sit around a table and find the best decision for me. France is one of the possible solutions.

Samuel Chukwueze is in Chelsea's target list.
