Ashley Young is close to completing his move to Inter Milan from Man United
The Englishman traveled to Milan to complete his medical with the Nerazzurri
He is expected to be announced as new club signing soon Ashley Young is on the brink of signing for Inter Milan, according to Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The former England defender has been given the go-ahead to conclude his move to join Antonio Conte’s side.
Romelu Lukaku joined Inter from United in the summer and the Nerazzurri also signed Alexis Sanchez on loan.
“Well, to be fair, I think it was for Ashley, you know,” explained Ole. “He is 35 in the summer and, if he gets a two-year contract somewhere, I think it’s up to him to take that. We weren’t ready to offer that.
“He’s been a good servant for the club. He’s been captain and he’s won trophies, leagues, cups, but we’ve got players coming through.
“So it was time now, then. When Ashley’s head and mindset was on ‘yeah, I want to try this’, why not do it now?“
The 34-year-old touched down in Milan to complete his medical ahead of the £1.2million move to the San Siro outfit.
Young admitted it was his first time in Milan, after spending under nine years at United and lifted four major trophies including the league title in 2013.
It is understood the left-back has agreed a six-month deal and with sign a further year based on performances. He made 202 starts for Man United, amassing a further 59 appearances as a substitute, and has scored 19 goals.
